Samarkand: Registan

Registan was the centre of the ancient Samarkand, heart of The Silk Road and Tamerlane's capital . The name Registan means sandy place in Persian.
You can see, from left to right, the Ulugbek Madrasah, the Tilya-Kori Madrasah and the Sher-Dor Madrasah.

Bukhara: Bolo-Hauz mosque

Bukhara: Bolo-Hauz mosqueBukhara, Uzbekistan, on the ancient Silk Road. Opposite to the Ark (the citadel of Bukhara) is the beautiful Bolo-Hauz mosque. It was built in the 18th century, and is still in use.
