Guimaraes castle

Guimarães Castle (Castelo de Guimarães), located in Portugal, was built in the 10th century. More than a century later, Count Dom Henrique chose Guimarães to establish his court. The castle was completely renovated and became the official royal residence from 1139, when Portugal became independent from the spanish Kingdom of León.

Chaves is the ancient Roman Aquae Flaviae. In those days was a city spa. Today it still is.
