Amer Fort (also known as Amber Fort) is located in Amer, 11 kilometres from Jaipur, Rajasthan state, India. It is one of the principal tourist attractions in the Jaipur area, located on a hill.

Guimaraes castle

Guimarães Castle (Castelo de Guimarães), located in Portugal, was built in the 10th century. More than a century later, Count Dom Henrique chose Guimarães to establish his court. The castle was completely renovated and became the official royal residence from 1139, when Portugal became independent from the spanish Kingdom of León.

Puebla de Sanabria

Puebla de Sanabria is a town in the Spanish province of Zamora (Castilla y León), near the Portuguese border.
It is a very old town, documented since the seventh century (Swabian and Visigothic periods). It has an important architectural heritage, which include the castle of the Counts of Benavente, built in the fifteenth century, and the church of Nuestra Señora del Azogue, built in the twelfth century in Romanesque style.

The Portuguese city of Chaves still retains the keep of a medieval castle. In the picture we see the tower lit by the evening light.

Chaves is the ancient Roman Aquae Flaviae. In those days was a city spa. Today it still is.

Bragança castle

Bragança, a small city in northeastern Portugal, has, among other tourist attractions, a castle in good condition. The strong main tower of the castle now houses a military museum.

Dublin Castle

Dublin Castle was until 1922 the fortified seat of British rule in Ireland, and is now a major Irish government complex. Most of it dates from the 18th century, though a castle has stood on the site since 1204.

King John's Castle in Limerick

King John's Castle is located on King's Island in Limerick, Ireland, next to the River Shannon.

This castle, built on the orders of King John and bearing his name, was completed around 1200.

The walls, towers and fortifications remain today, and are a visitor attraction. The remains of a Viking settlement (see the photo) were uncovered during the construction of a visitor centre at the site.

Kilkenny Castle

Kilkenny Castle (Ireland) is a castle built in 1195 by William Marshal, to control a fording-point of the River Nore and the junction of several routeways. It was a symbol of Norman occupation and in its original thirteenth-century condition it would have formed an important element of the defences of the town with four large circular corner towers.
